The Classical Review's Best Recordings of 2011
Avie Records
Adrian Chandler's exploration of the connections between Vivaldi and France with his own ensemble, La Serenissima, produced one of the most scintillating discs of the year. Boasting two world premiere recordings, it was, Jonathan Wikeley approvingly noted, "another cracking collection of concertos, and the variety is gripping." Three Paris Concertos shared the limelight with quicksilver works that variously showcased oboe, flute and bassoon to scintillating effect. In all, JW noted, "this recording is a delight and continues to showcase this compelling composer in a dazzling manner."
